Why the policy matters

Turning regional demand into opportunity for Caribbean producers.

Public institutions, schools, hospitals, hospitality businesses and other large buyers can help build more resilient local food systems. The LAFP proposes a coordinated framework to make that demand more accessible to local suppliers—especially young farmers and youth-led agrifood enterprises.

The policy is being strengthened through regional consultation, technical review and stakeholder validation before it proceeds to the appropriate decision-making authorities.
